Aveda is a fabulous hair brand but I always seem to forget that they also skincare, body products and makeup, however the new Sea Blossoms SS12 collection really caught my eye. Full of pastel-chic hues, very soft shades all inspired by the seaside, think peachy corals, osyter pinks, soft violets, muted blues and stony greys - all very reminiscent of the sea. I had previously had a lip gloss from Aveda, a vibrant red, that I also reach for when I'm wearing a red lip - it's a staple (will blog about it soon). The rest of the Aveda makeup range however was totally new to me, full of velvety textures, smooth formulas and light weight I reall have been enjoying using these products this week.
“Sea Blossoms brings beauty at the beach back to life - inspired by coral reef technicolours on shimmering skin, paired with soft aquatic pastels. The look is simple, yet effective, with a clear nod to the seventies”
Janell Geason, Global Make-up Artist for Aveda.
The collection includes Two Petal Essence Eye Colour Trios £21.00, two Nourish-mint Smoothing Lip Colours £12.00, two Nourish-mint Rehydrating Lip Glazes £15.50 and one Petal Essence Face Accents Trio £20.00. I have one of each of the products here, the swatches don't do the eye trio or face trio justice so I will post a FOTD using them soon.
Petal Essence Face Accents Trio - Shimmer Shell (173)
The formula of this is gorgeous, very smooth, I dust this over my cheek bones to create a beautiful bronzed glow. Right now I am all about highlighters, for the past week I have been reaching for this every day, it lasts well too I wore this from 6am-8pm and it was still going strong. Aveda have a few different shades of this trio, so there will be one for every skin tone. I have to say this was the stand out product from the collection for me, perfect the summer months.
Petal Essence Eye Colour Trios - Sea Grass (171)
Normally I don't wear blue tones on my eyes, but worked into my crease I actually quite liked the result, I love the taupe shade however. The pigmentation is fairly strong, not the best in the world but use a primer underneath and these will last you a good working day.
Nourish-mint Rehydrating Lip Glazes - Coral Sea (905)
& Nourish-mint Smoothing Lip Colours - Star Coral (903)
Despite being fairly new to trying Aveda makeup products, I knew I was going to be impressed by the lip products and I was right. I'm slowly moving from picks and going more for corals/peaches right now, they suit my complexion better, this has been my bright lip combination of choice for the last 3 days. Worn together or separately the pigmentation is great and the formula is smooth, the gloss isn't sticky (by my standards) and feels very hydrating on my lips.

Overall I am really enjoying the collection and glad I was able to try more of the Aveda makeup products. I have my eye on a few more pieces that from other reviews seem worth picking up, let me know if you have any faves in the comments.
What do you think of the Aveda Sea Blossoms collection? Will you be picking anything up?

Shimmer Shell is a fabulous palette! the colors are very sophisticated and i love the name of the makeup :D
I went to an Aveda Inst. and their makeup always gave me such a headache. They're pretty in the pan but they turn flaky, dingy and fade too quick. I do like their lipglosses and lipsticks though. I loved the Coral Sea Lipglaze when they gave us a preview this year, it's such a pretty color :)
